2022 Update
: We are not currently seeking new instructors or expanding our team, but all applications will be kept on file. You will hear from us if/when we have space for new instructors to join our team.
We are always interested in hearing from qualified writing instructors and authors who have at least TWO of the following:
MFA or equivalent writing-related degree
Publications in reputable journals and/or presses
Experience in the literary world as a publisher, editor, instructor, etc.
Above all, we value experienced instructors with enthusiasm for their craft and a love of guiding students through the process. Instructors should be high-energy, inspiring, and knowledgable about the craft of writing and the literary world.
Before applying, please be aware of the following:
Teaching for PVWW is very much a part-time commitment, rather than a full-time "position."
While we try to make sure all PVWW instructors are teaching each season, the amount you can expect to teach can vary significantly based on our needs. While we do pay our instructors fairly for their time and talent, teaching at PVWW is very much a labor of love.
PVWW writing instructors are independent contractors. PVWW is not an "employer."
We review applications a couple times a year, before we assemble our new schedule for the following season. At that time, if we have a need for more instructors, we will be in touch with you! If you don't hear from us, we are not able to take on any new instructors but we will keep your application on file and contact you if this changes.
Covid-19
Update
: We are completely virtual right now and will be for the foreseeable future. We use Zoom for all workshops, and all potential PVWW instructors should be comfortable teaching on Zoom and using all features of the platform. We are particularly seeking instructors who are interested in and/or familiar with strong online teaching methods and practices (for example: PowerPoint presentations, workshopping via Google Docs, hosting workshops in Google Classrooms, and making workshops engaging and visual in an online setting.)
