Class Description

This class will act as a craft-based primer on young adult fiction, what separates YA from adult and middle grade fiction, as well as offer a little history on the category and get you writing short YA fiction through a series of prompts. A hallmark of YA is the many genres it covers, from literary fiction to high fantasy, so writers interested in realism as well as genre fiction will find something tailored to their interests. For writers of all levels and genres, interested in writing YA fiction. INSTRUCTOR MOLLY HORAN has her MFA in writing for children and young adults from The New School. Her debut novel, Epically Earnest, a YA retelling of The Importance of Being Earnest, was published in 2022 and her second novel comes out later this year. Her first picture book, I Have Seven Dogs, was published in 2023. She currently teaches creative writing and literature at NYU and The School of Visual Arts.

If you withdraw from a workshop TEN DAYS OR MORE before the start of the class: You'll receive full credit toward another workshop OR a full refund (minus 10%, a transaction fee that is non-refundable and that we would otherwise be charged). If you withdraw from a workshop nine days before the start of the class up until 48 hours before: You'll receive a refund minus 20%. If you withdraw from a workshop less than 48 hours before the start of a class or after the class has begun: We cannot offer credit or any refund. If you are absent on the day of your workshop or miss it for any reason, we are unable to offer any kind of refund or credit. If we have to cancel a class you have paid for, you will receive a full refund, without the service charge deducted.
