Consulting / Editing / Coaching with Joy Baglio at PVWW (2 hours)
This is a two-hour consulting / editing / coaching package with PVWW Founder / Director Joy Baglio. This package is for approximately two hours of Joy's time. After purchase, Joy will be in touch with you directly to learn more about how you'd like to use your time, as well as to schedule the session (either editing, coaching, or a combination of both). Please allow up to a week for the consultant to reach out directly after purchase.
About your editor / coach / consultant:
JOY BAGLIO is the founder/director of Pioneer Valley Writers' Workshop (PVWW). Her short stories have appeared widely, in journals such as The Missouri Review, Tin House, American Short Fiction, Conjunctions, The Iowa Review, TriQuarterly, Gulf Coast, New Ohio Review, and elsewhere. Recent honors include fellowships, scholarships, and grants from Yaddo, The Elizabeth George Foundation, Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, Sewanee Writers' Conference, The Speculative Literature Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, Ragdale, The Kerouac Project, and Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing. Joy holds an MFA from The New School and is a contributing editor at Bucknell University's literary magazine West Branch. She's represented by Peter Steinberg at Fletcher & Co and Sean Daily (for film/TV). Follow her on twitter at @JoyBaglio or visit her online at www.joybaglio.com.
How a two-hour consulting / editing / coaching session can be used:
- Editing: Joy will review approximately 15 - 20 double-spaced pages in standard formatting, and offer margin and line comments in Google Docs, and written/bulleted overall feedback on what's working well and what could work better.
- Coaching: Joy will meet with you over Zoom (or phone) in two separate one-hour sessions to talk about your writing and creative goals; any questions you have on craft, process, and/or the industry (publishing, querying, agents); and/or anything else related to writing that you'd like to discuss and/or learn! Coaching time can also be used to look at short sections of writing together, on the spot.
- Combination: Joy will spend approximately half of the session (1 hour) reading up to 10-15 pages, then meeting with you on Zoom (or phone) for the remaining hour to discuss your work. While Joy may still leave line comments on your work, these will not be as extensive as a pure "Editing" session and the bulk of feedback will be delivered verbally and discussed, rather than written.
- Coaching packages are priced at each editor's individual hourly rates.
Next steps:
- Your PVWW consultant / editor / coach will reach out to you to learn more about what you're looking for and to schedule your session!
- Make sure that the contact info you share upon purchase of the session is clear, as that's the email address they will contact.
- You can expect to hear from your consultant within seven days.
- PVWW editors have different styles and ways of working, and all editing and coaching work is tailored to your needs. Make sure you and your editor/coach are on the same page before work together begins!
- Make sure your work (for review) is in standard formatting (double-spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman, one-inch margins)
- If you want to continue working with your editor / coach after your initial session, you can book more time with them, either another two-hour package, or you can talk to them about a longer session.
Our basic policies regarding consulting, editing, and coaching at PVWW:
- All paid-for editing and/or coaching hours must be used within the calendar year they were purchased.
- We are not able to offer refunds for any editing and/or coaching work that has already been completed and/or started by the consultant. However, if an editor has not yet begun the work and a refund is requested, that can usually be accommodated. In general, consulting/editing/coaching refunds and/or cancellations are handled on a case-by-case basis.
- Please respect your consultant's time and make sure that all work turned in is double-spaced and in standard formatting (Times New Roman, 12 point font, one inch margins). Work that is not in standard formatting will be put into standard formatting before reading / commenting begins.
Thank you for supporting Pioneer Valley Writers' Workshop, and we're excited to support you and your writing!
