Class Description

Join PVWW Founder Joy Baglio & Manuscript Program instructor Melenie Flynn for a fun, productive, & structured day of writing in creative community, in beautiful downtown Florence, MA! This retreat is perfect for writers of any level or genre wanting to spend a full day immersed in their writing - whether it’s a particular project you’d like to make headway on, or you’re wanting to jumpstart something new, or just get back into the flow of generating words - while also meeting and connecting with other writers and being part of a supportive writing community. We’ll spend time briefly getting to know each other and discussing our creative goals, before diving into our writing (with ample optional writing prompts, for those who'd like them!) The day will include structured quiet writing time, optional one-on-one consultations with Joy or Melenie to discuss any aspect of your writing and/or creative goals, opportunities to share work (for supportive verbal feedback), and more! Our retreat schedule, lunch options, and one-on-one signups will be shared with those registered. Sliding scale payment options. WHERE: Florence's beautiful Civic Center (see photos), which has both indoor and outdoor writing spaces, including a large covered wraparound porch, a scenic lawn, benches, and lots of parking. It's fully accessible, with ramps to enter. Steps from Lilly Library and favorite downtown cafes like The Pie Bar and Wild Chestnut Cafe. After the retreat, join us at the Civic Center for PVWW's Fall Reading, featuring a lineup of local authors, out on the lawn! RETREAT INCLUDES: • Hours of quiet, dedicated writing time (in three structured chunks of time across the day) • Engaging writing prompts and writing exercises, applicable to all genres and stages of process • Opportunities to share goals, intentions, process, and writing (verbally) for supportive feedback • Optional one-on-one (15-minute) consultations with Joy or Melenie • Snacks, fruit, coffee, tea (throughout the day)! • New friends, writing buddies, community! ADMISSION COST • Retreat Admission: $175 • Retreat Admission + 30-minute consultation: $225 • "Patron of the Pen" = Retreat Admission + Full Scholarship to a Writer In Need of Aid: $350 SPONSORSHIP Supported by WHMP News 101.5, specifically Dan Torres, producer of Talk the Talk with Bill Newman and Buz Eisenberg.
