Tommy Dean is a literary agent, literary magazine editor, and writer, with a broad range of experience behind-the-scenes in the publishing world. He'll be joining us on September 13th (4 - 5pm ET), to talk briefly about finding a literary agent, the querying process, tips for editing / revising your work, the state of book publishing, and other helpful tips. Most of this hour-long session will be a Q&A, so come with questions! For Manuscript Program writers only. Free to attend with RSVP. TOMMY DEAN is a literary agent at Talcott Notch, specializing in mystery, suspense, thrillers, crime fiction, and upmarket fiction with danger and secrets. He gravitates towards stories with deep emotional resonance, with characters who come to life through their actions and responses to the world around them. He is searching for stories that investigate the mysteries of being human. He is always interested in clear stakes, surprise endings, and stories that make him forget the outside world. He is drawn to high-stakes narratives, complex characters, and stories that refuse to be put down. Tommy is the editor of Fractured Lit and Uncharted Magazine, as well as the author of two flash fiction chapbooks. A recipient of the 2019 Lascaux Prize in Short Fiction, his writing can be found in Best Microfiction 2019, 2020, 2023, Best Small Fiction 2019 and 2022, Monkeybicycle, Moon City Press, and numerous other litmags. His interviews have been previously published in New Flash Fiction Review, The Rumpus, CRAFT Literary, and The Town Crier (The Puritan).
