Class Description

So many of us want to write because we love to read. But the writing we love can feel like a magic trick, one that we'll never learn how to master. In this workshop - for each of our four class sessions - one writer will bring a short piece of writing by an author they love (any genre), and together as a class, we'll work out what makes that writing SING. Then, we'll use those insights as generative prompts to create music in our own writing. Not to copy the original work, but to play with it in our own voices. This class will be deeply collaborative, playful, and full of opportunities to take risks, fail, and help each other along the way. You'll come away with several short pieces that you can use to jumpstart new work or to infuse into a project you've already started. Other than writers bringing in work to discuss, there is no work required outside of class time. EDEN ROBINS is the author of the novels Remember You Will Die, which was a finalist for the Ursula K.
